Lisa Merck, APN, CNM, MS

(Advanced Practice Nurse, Certified Nurse Midwife, Master of Science)

         Lisa Merck is the owner and primary care clinician at Sopris Women's Clinic in Crested Butte and Gunnison, CO.  Lisa served in the US Air Force for five years doing administration and raising her two boys before deciding to attend a Bachelors of Science Nursing College in Alva, Oklahoma. She worked as a Registered Nurse for a decade in Medical Surgery, Neurology, Gastroenterology, Emergency room, ICU, Outpatient diagnostics, and nurse management before arriving in Crested Butte in 1999. After arriving to Crested Butte, Lisa worked as a Registered Nurse at Gunnison Hospital, CO in ER, Med Surg, and Obstetrics.  While there she was also the Obstetrics supervisor.  In 2004 she realized her calling was in labor and delivery.  Lisa decided to return to school to get her Master’s Degree in Nursing and Certification as an Advanced Practice Nurse/Certified Nurse Midwife.  She obtained her Masters Degree at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver, CO.  When she graduated in 2004, she moved to Glenwood Springs for a 10 year stint at Valley View Hospital, delivering more than 2,500 babies in both low and high risk deliveries with collaboration from both OB/GYN Doctors and Certified Nurse Midwives.  Lisa eventually opened her own practice In Glenwood Springs, CO in 2011.  Desiring a more slow-paced lifestyle from the hustle and bustle of Glenwood Springs, She moved back to Crested Butte and opened Sopris Women’s Clinic in April 2014 and has been happily serving the Gunnison County and surrounding areas ever since. She now has clinics in both Crested Butte, CO and Gunnison, CO.  Lisa also is passionate about volunteering for CB Search and Rescue, The Nordic Center, The Heritage Museum, The Center for the Arts, and The Mallardi Theater.  She is also a Deputy Coroner and assists with Death Scene Investigation in the Gunnison Valley.  

          She is happily married to her husband Paul Merck.  She has two successful sons, Tyler and Trever, and is a grandma to Luka and Zara. Furthermore, she has two step children she is helping raise Joshua and Samantha. Lisa loves the outdoors and on her off time you will find her skinning up mountains, skiing, running, hiking, camping, and mountain biking. She also enjoys spending time with her best friend Lori who happens to be her identical twin sister.
